A formula can be used to calculate the value of a cell
P a g e|28Functions are premade formulae and can be located here:To enter a formula you will need to:Select a cellType the equal sign (=)Type your formula. To edit a formula you will need to:Click the formula barEditPress enter.Example mathematical formulae you may use include:Add cells:Multiply cells:Subtract cells:
P a g e|29Staff acquisitionOnce you have allocated your available resources within your budget, you will need to assess whetheryour human resources have the necessary skill sets to cover the project tasks. You may decide to allocatevarious tasks to one individual or you may decide to train staff prior to the commencement of theproject. Depending on your organisation you may need to source and obtain human resources fromexternal sources in order to ensure you are able to complete all project tasks. You can assess whether your project will require further human resources by considering thefollowing factors:Historical data – you should compare previous project requirements to determine thehuman resources you will require in your project.Research external factors – you should consider any factors that may influence yourproject, these may include, equipment, skill set, weather, events and holidaysOrganisational requirements – your organisation may have allocated a certain numberof human resources to one area of a project that you cannot amend for example onehuman resource must remain on reception. This may influence which human resourcesand their skill sets should be allocated to one task.Team developmentThroughout your project, you will need to monitor the work output from your human resources. Thereare two formulae to measure the performance of your human resources:ProductivityEfficiency.Formulae to measure productivity:To calculate the productivity of human resources, you will need to determine your input and output.Your input may be hours or employees and your output may be profit or products.Formulae to measure efficiency:To calculate the efficiency of human resources, you should use the following formula:
P a g e|30The percentage of efficiency may be influenced by various factors including:Turnover rateof human resourcesAbsentee Rate whether scheduled or unscheduledIdle time and actual hours needed to complete the task. The advantage of measuring human resources’ performance and output is the abilityto record and analyse the data in future projects. The results may indicate problems areas for humanresources with the need for further training to be provided, or the data may indicate areas where toomany human resources were allocated to a particular task unnecessarily.
