F., PhD., & Hasin, D. S., PhD. (2013). Substance-use disorders and poverty as prospective predictors of first-time homelessness in the united states. American Journal of Public Health, 103 (2), S282-S288. The authors did a study on alcohol and related conditions to see if substance abuse had a direct correlation with homelessness and chronic homelessness. The study showed how poverty and substance abuse did have a direct link to homelessness.
