15 HIPAA Policy Appendix A Testimony of The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Senate Committee Meeting 2019 July 28, 2019 Priyaliben Patel 9107 Peartree Landing Alexandria, VA 22309 Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate Committee Members, I will like to thank you for giving me this wonderful opportunity to address about the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. My name is Priyaliben (Priya) Patel. I am an Operations Coordinator of Department of Ophthalmology for the Children’s National Health Systems and a current graduate student of Southern New Hampshire University. Today, I am here as a healthcare administer advocating for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and to further explain why this act is beneficial to the healthcare industry and their stakeholders. By supporting this policy has provided safer exchange of the health information of patients among their providers, improved daily operational flow, established open communications, reduced costs for the organizations, improved productivity, and safeguard the privacy of patient's medical records. As result, we have been seeing improvements in the United States’ healthcare industry as our healthcare professionals are providing high-quality of care and services without any inequalities to their patients.
