As I further investigated the MLG scene, many variables came to my mind. The number one was costs for events. First each event immediately cost each player $60. Second, estimated flight costs ran from $200-$450 depending on the season and loca- tion of event. Third, each event had over 100 teams, which consisted of players with more time on their hands and many more years of experience then I. This meant that the chances of me placing top 3 were very slim which meant my goal of making money would have not been accomplished due to competition. In addition the only way to truly make any profit was first place because most 2-3rd place prizes were small increments compared to the first place prize. This discovery devastated me, but I do not have a spirit that is easily broken, I turned to music to help me calm myself and I stumbled upon this artist, Asher Roth, a typical college student in his late teens with magical music talent. His new song G.R.I.N.D truly helped me clear my head with lyrics that I will never forget “Its not about

fame and fortune its about believing and believing in yourself and understanding that this life is life its liberty and the pursuit of happiness its not about getting what you want all the time its about loving what you have, so get ready its a new day.” Not only do these lines address the topic of narcissism but it has a valuable lesson in its self. It provides the message that not everything revolves around you, and the world will not shift its schedule to fit yours or anyone else’s. This taught me that even if I don’t achieve my goals there is always a second chance and that what I have now should be enjoyed to its full extant. At one point in my life I believed that the more money I had the happier I would truly be, but these lyrics carry and message that is not easily understood unless you can fully apply the message to yourself. Happiness comes in various ways shapes and forms, although at times it does come in the form of material wishes this is not the most important. We also have to understand that everything we want does not exactly come to us so we have to appreciate what we have to truly understand who we are. I believe that this narcissistic mind set many teens are experiencing is only a phase, and through maturity it shall be overcome.
