MNH306-K/101 7 APPENDIX A - ASSIGNMENTS 1 GENERAL Please consult Tutorial Letter MNALLE-Q/301/4/2004 about the following: # answering essay questions # administrative requirements for assignments # extension of time for submitting assignments # key concepts for examining 2 ASSIGNMENTS The length of an assignment must not exceed five written pages. ASSIGNMENT 01 This assignment must NOT be sent to the University! Read the following memo and then answer the questions. MEMO TO: Dr D Mahlangu 30 March 2004 CHIEF DIRECTOR FROM : Mrs P Tshoke HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT: COMPENSATION Dear Dr Mahlangu ANNUAL PAY INCREASES The Trade Union has negotiated the following across-the-board increases for this year: A salary increase of 10% to all job levels A-D (semi-skilled assistant). A salary increase of 8% to all job levels E-F (skilled assistant). A performance bonus of 10% to all employees after completion of one year’s service (additional to birthday bonus), linked to performance of company. Paid annual leave of 25 working days. A child-care allowance of R200,00 per month for all union members. A housing allowance of R200,00 per month for all union members. Funeral insurance for all pensioners who were employed in above-mentioned job categories. As you know, the Trade Union only represents 300 of the 2 500 employees of our organisation. Further, budget deficits allow us an increase of only 8% for this financial year. The above mentioned increases effectively means that there will be less money available for salary increases of professional staff. As our turnover of professional staff for the past 24 months has been very high and we are having difficulty filling the vacant positions, there is a real threat of professional staff leaving our organisation if salary increases are unacceptable.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
