Policy: Course WithdrawalThere are two kinds of withdrawal: 1) student-initiated withdrawal and 2) instructor-initiated withdrawal. You can find the specific withdrawal dates in my.maricopa.edu >Student Center > My Class Schedule > (Course Prefix/Number) > Calendar button underDeadlines.After the last day for student-initiated withdrawal, students may askinstructors to withdraw them. Other relevant dates are listed in the college academiccalendar. Failing to submit assignments and maintain steady progress will result inwithdrawal by your instructor.Policy: Dress Code (CGCC Student Handbook)Students are expected to dress appropriately and in good taste at all times while oncampus, in the classroom, or in the Student Center. Students are required to wear sometype of shirt in addition to other normal apparel. State Health Department laws andcollege policy require that all students wear shoes. If, in the opinion of the faculty or staffmember, any student’s dress, manner, appearance, or conduct distracts, disrupts orinterferes in any way with the classroom procedures or the educational processes, theviolator may be asked to leave the classroom or the campus. The violator may not returnuntil the condition is corrected or the case is reviewed by the Vice President of StudentAffairs.14
Policy: Last Date of Attendance and Monitoring Academic ActivityCGCC is a “term-based” institution, requiring weekly academic activity in an onlinecourse. For the purposes of disbursing federal financial aid, faculty must report the lastdate of attendance (LDA) in the event of a student withdrawal or course failure. Todetermine an LDA, faculty must ensure students engage in academic activity on a weeklybasis. Examples of academic activities include:Submitting an academic assignment (assignment required in the class, regardlessof whether it is graded or not), paper, or project,Taking an exam, quiz, computer-assisted instruction, or an interactive tutorialrequired by the class,Participating in an online study group (where there is assignedattendance/participation as part of the class)Initiating contact with the instructor to ask a question about the academic subjectstudied in the class.Simply logging in to an online class does not constitute academic activity. Studentsinterested in working ahead in an online class should consult with their instructor asacademic activity must still be recorded in every week of the class.Policy: Withdrawal Warning for Non-payment of FeesStudents may suddenly discover that they have been DROPPED FROM ALL THEIRCLASSES because they have failed to pay a lab fee or some other fee that is required foran online class. Please log on to your student account at My.Maricopa and verify that youhave paid all your fees. If you are dropped for nonpayment, paying your fees will NOTautomatically reinstate you in your classes.
