The short sightedness of both the government and aviation industry operators led to this series of devastating events. The creation of a unified body under the Federal Aviation Act in 1958, set in motion the set of rules aviation more regulated and safer (Lawrence, 2015, p. 188). The rules set by the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA), became applicable to both civilian and military aircrafts flying in the United States. Due to the FAA’s independent nature, they were given the authority to make long range plants with regards to safety research and developments.
