This was simply because of the more "human" componentnecessary in a service industry. There seems to be a greater likelihood ofvariability and unpredictability in what the consumers are requesting. For thisreason in particular, I assumed coordination would be difficult for managementsince the variance is inevitable. However, when looking specifically at thesupply chain, the fact that the service industry would require less supplies andhave few steps clearly makes it the easier to coordinate. Thank you for puttingthis together to clarify the topic.Ericka HunterThread:Dempsey Question #1 Week 8Post:Dempsey Question #1 Week 8Author:Posted Date:February 6, 2016 2:27 PMStatus:Published1) Define supplychain management. List and discuss the objectives of supplychain management. From the Internet find a Supply Chain Managementorganization. Provide its web site address and discuss the services it provides.SupplyChain Management is the process of managing each step of the workflow from start to finish. It is the ability to ensure a smooth flow of materials, resources, or goods from one process to the next to ensure that the endtoendprocess is completed in the most efficient and effective manner. This couldinclude making sure inventory is available and that each process has minimaldown time. The book summarizes it as the synchronization of a firm’s processeswith those of its suppliers and customers to match the flow of materials, services, and information with demand (Krajewski). Wikipedia also adds that itis the “design, planning, execution, control, and monitoring of supply chainactivities” (Wikipedia).William Dempsey
