Page 4 of 8Attendance:Class attendance will be taken to comply with college records requirements. Consistent class attendance is essential to receive a good grade in this course. Arriving late or leaving class without notifying the instructor will result in the loss of class participation points. Chronic absenteeism (3 or more missed classes) will adversely affect your grade. Grades will be reduced by a letter grade for the third and any subsequent absence. If you are unable to attend class it is your responsibility to contact me to verify what was covered in the class, as well as following the week’s class activities. Class activities, assignments, and quizzes/tests may fluctuate due to time constraints and schedule adjustments for video/guest speakers, field trips, etc.I want each and every student to know that I am available to help you achieve a good grade in this class. Keep in mind,outside of this class, I have several part-time jobs, however I will check the various avenues of communication regularly throughout the day and respond as soon as possible. Let’s both be successful together!Late Arrival: Attendance and appropriate, active participation is expected and will be to your advantage. Lateness will not! Classes will begin promptly at the scheduled class time. After three late arrivals, your grade will be lowered a letter grade and will continue to be lowered with every late arrival! If you arrive late, please enter the class in a non- disturbing manner; quickly, quietly and taking the first available seat. *If you arrive just before this class begins, the lot will most likely be full-leave ample time to park in the overflow lot and walk to class.Note: Your active, appropriate participation and regular attendance will be considered and can make a difference in your final grade. It is worth 150 points of your total grade.Appropriate language is expected during discussions and side conversations are not permitted. These annoying and rude distractions will be noted and will have an impact on your grade. I reserve the right to suggest a more agreeable seating arrangement. And if necessary, you will be asked to leave the classroom. Should this occur, you will need to visit the Dean of Student Development before returning to the next class.
