Explain 8) Write a note on supply chain dynamics 4.6 SUMMARY A supply chain consists of all stages involved, directly or indirectly, in fulfilling a customer request. The supply chain not only includes the manufacturer and suppliers, but also transporters, warehouses, retailers, and customers themselves. With regard to stages of supply chain it involves a variety of stages which includes customer, retailer, wholesaler/distributors, manufacturers and component/raw material suppliers. The objective of every supply chain is to maximize the overall value generated. The value a supply chain generates is the difference between what the final product is worth to the customer and the effort the supply chain expends in filling the customer's request. Warehouse is important in the supply chain process. A Warehouse can be said to be a location with adequate facilities where volume shipments are received from a production centre, broken down, reassembled into combinations representing a particular order and shipped to the customer's location or locations. The essential processing of materials in a warehouse involves receiving goods, identifying goods, sorting gods, dispatching goods to storage, holding goods, retrieving, selecting or packing of goods, marshalling goods, dispatching goods, and preparing records and advices. A warehouse may be privately owned and operated by a company making its own goods. This is called a private warehouse. A warehouse may be owned and operated
