In order to determine how much coverage can be recognized alongside the eliminating period in the new plan they will need to start at the patient’s enrollment date and count backwards until a significant break in coverage is reached. Title one requires that any preexisting condition can be covered on that date. [1] Next I will discussing the Title two of HIPAA. Title two of HIPAA, also known as the Administrative Simplification (AS) provisions, requires the establishment of national standards for electronic health care transactions and national identifiers for providers, health insurance plans, and employers. [2] Title two of HIPAA offers guarded protected health information (or PHI) from illegal disclosure. It allows the patient to review their own medical records, apply for corrections to the medical record, set criminal penalties in place for illegal disclosure of PHI, and many other things to protect the patients. A couple of the revisions can be found on the HIPAA website (HIPAA.com). Some of the revisions I found are, uses and disclosures of protected health information decedents, protected health information of deceased individuals, disclosures to business associates, and many more. [3] Due to the advancements in technology throughout the years the Title Two of HIPPA has an increase in cybercrime. In order to protect our records, billions of dollars are spent to protect networks that hold our records. [4] Next I will be going over some Ethical Issues with HIPPA. Here are some ethnical issues with HPAA that I found during my research. Whether or not to follow the decisions of the patient or follow the social ethics. For instance abortion, Aids confidentiality, patient confidentiality, life or death decisions when the patient does not have a Will or a DNR. Ethics and professional judgment are always important but can make things problematic. Here are some things I learned about patient confidentiality. It is the patients right
