punishments for gathering information from the protected computer while accessing it illegally. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act is also a law that was put into effect to protect important assets but is geared more towards financial assets of businesses. It also includes a section for retaliation against whistleblowers, which has cost companies billions of dollars in civil suits. All of these laws were put into place to protect important data that is stored electronically and physically. They are to ensure that the privacy of individuals and corporations is kept secure and that the unauthorized access, obtainment, and manipulation of that data is punished. One area in particular that is having conflicts, is global cloud services. The U.S. in particular, has issues with data privacy and localization requirements. The issue with privacy is that different countries have different policies and laws pertaining to data privacy, so when the U.S. provides global cloud services, complying with U.S. regulations and the other country’s regulations is a hurdle they have to get through. Also, there is much debate on where the data should be stored, some countries want it stored in their country even though they are using U.S. based cloud services. Over the years technology has changed and with it new areas with where exploitation can occur and Privacy can be violated, the Acts and policies are needed to help us protect our privacy and outline the punish for those who violate them.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
