in technological innovation. Their disassociation from the bottom line being about profit helps fuel their drive to achieve their goals and vision. The fact that many went to great lengths to make their ideas cometo fruition shows why they ultimately achieved those heights. Edison is a great example as he essentially created a blue print for how to set up a workshop for invention making. Meaning he put together a small team of skilled machinists, created a workshop with the best tools and equipment of the time and put all his resources and found outside funding to tinker and test his ideas and theories. Edison accomplished allthis while still keeping an outside influence out of the workshop and not inventing for “damn capitalists” (Hughes, p. 21, 1989).Edison’s success with the electric light is often reduced to the discovery of the carbon-filament light bulb. Yet without creating an entire system, his invention would not have led tothe creation of a whole new industry. Besides the carbon-filament light bulb, what element ofEdison’s light would you consider most essential? Explain why.I touched on it a bit in my previous post discussion, but I’ll mention it again here. I truly believe the way
