A Sand County Almanac (1949). The text helped expand my view of nature and aided in my viewpoint of why I disagree with this week’s statement and believe that land conservation are views that are centered on human values and attitudes , not the intrinsic worth of nature and other species. This class has opened my eyes to the world - especially the nature - around me and the readings have helped me to see that conservation has centered around the needs of the people to the people wanting to conserve the planet instead of conservation just being for the good of nature and species who call nature their home. As apart of the learning materials, we read that people whose job it was to determine which areas of undeveloped forest needed preservation were accused of “wanting to lock up valuable natural resources” (Nash 2014). Instead of wanting to perserve the land for the need of the animals and nature and their intrinsic worth, people in charge of determining what needed to be preserved were accused of wanting to take away resources from the people helping me see that the topic of conservation is always typically about the people instead of about nature itself.
