Having most websites blocked affected me greatly for example; I was trying to search up topics related to Planned ParentHood and it blocked me and I had to change my topic entirely. Filtering websites does the next generation of digital citizens a disservice by disconnecting other outputs to keep us school related on MacBooks. “Websites are what you make of it.” Explained by a Scottsburg High student. For example if Instagram and Facebook and other social media sites are open; teachers then should make a project that would help us learn but also could use social media. Freshman year we had to do a book posting on Twitter and this unlocked a whole other world of learning for students. In conclusion, some websites should be removed off the block list while others might need to remain blocked for safety and non-learning purposes. Social media like Facebook shouldbe removed, Instagram and if Twitter is blocked then you should remove the blocked filter and turn these into learning opportunities.
