132 5.3.5.2 Presence of Edge Either manmade barriers or natural barriers should be provided to create a well defined edge of a New Town, such as vehicle highways and mountain range. 5.3.5.2.1 Sha Tin New Town Sha Tin New Town has a well defined edge. The New Town is segregated from Kowloon by a range of mountains and hills, which is dominated by Lion Rock and Sugar Loaf Peak. These hills form a physical edge and a natural barrier to the expansion of Sha Tin New Town. 5.3.5.2.2 Tseung Kwan O New Town Tseung Kwan O New Town is surrounded by steep slopping hills in the north, the east and the west and physically separated from East Kowloon and Clear Water Peninsula. Same as Sha Tin New Town, there is an existing natural barrier that helps form an identifiable edge of Tseung Kwan O New Town, and avoid any sprawl to the Clear Water Bay Country Park.
