necessary degrees to reach professional goals can sometimes cause a less than savory version of ourselves to emerge. The connection between academic and professional integrity is imperative because if you choose the unethical, integrity deprived route in your academic career, there is a likelihood you will continue in your professional career. The purpose of Part three of the Academic and Professional Success Plan is to illuminate the relationship between academic integrity and writing, emphasize on the relationship between professional practices and scholarly ethics and explain how Grammarly, Safe Assign, and paraphrasing contributes to academic integrity. Relationship Between Academic Integrity and Writing The definition of integrity is 1. adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty. 2. The state of being whole, entire, or undiminished. (dictionary.com, n.d.) If there is one thing, I want to be known for it would be integrity. As a human, a student and a nurse, I feel that integrity is an essential quality to weave into the moral fiber of your soul. Studies have found correlations between unethical practices as a student with future professional behavior; therefore, it is important to instill a sense of ethics in all nursing students.” (Melissa Langone, 2007) Where will unethical train lead you? Will you start overcharging you patents insurance, sharing their personal information with friends and colleges not involved with their care? The news is filled with how very uncalibrated one’s ethical compass can become, but it is vital to the nursing code of ethics that we do not dance with that devil. The ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses is there to remind us in case you have a momentary lapse of integrity or ethical judgment. Provision 5 "The nurse owes the same duties to self as to
