Anthropology 200 Name: _____________________ Zoo Trip Assignment Part V. Bonobos.  Section A.  Continue past the gorilla exhibit to the bonobo exhibit. Again, please make sure to visit  both the outdoor area and the indoor area.  What is the genus and species name?  In what part of the world are bonobos found?  What makes them physically different from chimpanzees?  What kind of social groupings do they live in when in the wild? Is this evident in the  captive environment of the zoo?  Section B.  For this section of this assignment, you are going to make observations again; however,  this time, you will be selecting one animal to observe for a given period of time. You  should select one bonobo to focus on for a period of ten minutes. You will be indicating  how many times the animal does certain behaviors during this ten-minute period. Every  thirty seconds, you will record how many times the animal does the behaviors listed in  the chart below. The numbers across the top of the chart indicate the time intervals (for  example, ‘1’ indicates the first 30 seconds, ‘2’ indicates the second 30 seconds, etc.) you  should have checkmarks or numbers all the way across the chart for different categories.  What activity did the animal you selected do the most often?  What activity did it engage in the least?  7
