MR. YUSOF BIN JAMALUDIN (UPSB CLEANER) Problem statement: Mr. Yusoff feel demotivated to work in UUM as a UPSB cleaner because his relationship with student very poor. He already working in UUM for the 13 years, so he really wants to be a supervisor. Solution: The motivation plans that suitable to build a relationship between cleaner and student is the university should have a campaign between employees and students who will build a bond with each other by giving a way of respect a worker in UUM and greeting older people when they meet them. In addition, each hostel should take the initiative to introduce employees around their hostels during the first week to new students. Moreover, students can know the employees and respect them. A good relationship between UPSB worker and student can motivated they to more hard work. The theory that I can relate with this situation is expectancy theory because Mr. Yusoff has a goal which is he want to be a supervisor. So, in expectancy theory is argue that a tendency to act in a certain way depends on an expectation that the act will be follow by given outcome. Mr. Yusoff will be motivated to work to exert a high level of effort because he believes that a maximum effort will lead his to a good performance appraisal. The good appraisal will lead to rewards. Then, the reward will satisfy his personal goals which is he want to be personal goals. 10
