Mode - Is the observation that appears the most times. - More useful for dataset that contains relatively small number of unique data. - Disadvantage: It is not unique. - For frequency distribution and histograms of grouped data, the mode is the group with the greatest frequency. Measures of Dispersion: Why? - Variation can be more important than the mean or ‘average’. - Two companies supply products (components) to another company. The Sample Standard Deviation (s) The variance is the square of the average difference (or distance) of all x-values of a variable from their mean. σ = ( x −´ x ) 2 n The Range - From the ranked values we can find the range, which is the difference between the largest and the smallest numbers in our data. - Range= Largest Value (Max) – Smallest Value (Min) - It is simply a measure of the distance between the largest and the smallest values. Interquartile Range - The difference between the upper and lower quartiles is called the Interquartile Range (IQR) - It basically measures the distance between the upper quartile and the lower quartile. - 50% of your data are within the IQR

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
