Personal opinion: Yes, I believe that nurse practitioner should practice independently within given scope of practice. We work hard to receive graduate level education, clinical practice through preceptorship, and increased skill and knowledge that if we have enough competency than we should be rewarded for the hard work. APRN patient care has contributed 1Fewer emergency visits, shorter hospital stays, and lower medication costs 1Reduce primary care shortage 1Offers high quality care, cost effective, patient centered care 1Also assists in education, research, and mentorship 1
