2 In addition to the required questions, your analysis should also consider some additional questions and themes: Do themes emerge in the claimsmaking process? Who are the claimsmakers involved? o What are their (potential or actual) personal interests in the issue? o Who seems to have relatively greater access to resources? o Who seems to possess relatively more power and privilege in the claimsmaking process? What types of evidence does each side frequently use? What types of evidence are rarely used or conspicuously absent? o What patterns do you see in the use of evidence? (e.g. which claimsmakers use certain types of evidence; type of media in which a type is more/less frequently deployed.) o To what extent does each side address the claims made by the opposition? What types of evidence are used to respond to these claims? What contextual factors do claimsmakers identify as important to the social problem? o What factors constrain or enable the development of or solutions to the problem?
