Towards the end of 2008 Ford operated nearly 3800 dealerships among which half of them sold Ford brands and the other quarter sold Lincoln and Mercury brands (SEC, 10K). Mercury brand was discontinued after 2010 (Ford Website). The Pre-tax profit of Ford Motors as of 2014 is $6.3 billion and the net income is $3187 million (Ford Annual Report, 2014).Ford’s automotive segments are designs, manufactures, service cars, trucks, SUV’s and vehicle parts. These segments are primarily broken down by regions North America, South America, Europe and Asia Pacific Africa (Oasis Consulting, 2009). Ford Motors is a family owned business with 2% stake. William Clay Ford Jr is the executive chairman of the company. He is been with the company from 1979 as a product planning analyst later he joined the board of directors in 1988 and its chairman from 1999. When he served as CEO, Mr. Ford improved quality, lowered cost and delivered new exiting products. He took the company from a $5.5 billion loss to three straight years of profitability (Ford Media). Mark Fields is the Chief Executive Officer and President of the company and Mark Laneve is the Vice President of U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service (Ford Corporate). In 2006 Alan Mulally was appointed as the Chief Executive officer of Ford Motors. His ‘One Plan and The Way Forward’ strategy was aimed towards restructuring the company. This strategy focused on strong ford personality which is seen and felt within every automobile produced within the company (Strategic Report, 2009) which in turn led to the increase in the number of vehicles sold and gain in profit margins. This verifiable industry is recorded with the New York Stock Exchange and with less than 40% voting rights is under the thumb of the relatives of Ford.
