ABOUT THIS UNIT
The aim of this unit is to develop your expertise in understanding the importance of leadership and teamwork and how these
are applied by individuals and in organisations to establish an effective management environment. This involves cultivating
diverse skills such as innovation to foster productivity and being equipped to deal with negotiation, mediation and conflict
resolution. As a result you will develop the basic building blocks to form a team, work effectively with teams and have a solid
base from which to lead and work in a team environment in your future career.
Unit development in response to student feedback
Every trimester, we ask students to tell us, through eVALUate, what helped and hindered their learning in each Unit. You are
strongly encouraged to provide constructive feedback for this Unit when eVALUate opens (you will be emailed a link).
In previous versions of this unit, students have told us that these aspects of the Unit have helped them to achieve the
learning outcomes:
early preparation of the team contract to establish norms and expectations
●
They have also made suggestions for improvement, and so this is what we have done and will do:
provide topic summaries.
●
In the past we have allowed groups to self-select and while this may be considered in this trimester, depending on the
numbers enrolled, students may be allocated to groups.
Towards the end of the teaching period you will be emailed a link to the eVALUate survey for this unit.
I encourage you to
complete this as the results are used to help assess curriculum, teaching and assessment directions in this unit.
If you have any concerns about the Unit during the trimester, please contact the unit teaching team - preferably early in the
trimester - so we can discuss your concerns, and make adjustments, if appropriate.
