as the “rights of liberty, private property, the inviolability of the person and resistance to oppression”. The article stated that all citizens were equal before the law and have the right to participate in legislation either directly or indirectly and citizens were free to access any position and offices (article 6). The article gave freedom of religion and speech (articles 10 and 11 respectively) which are within the bounds of public law and order. Article 7 stated that no one was to be arrested without a judicial order. The article was formulated by major thinkers of the French enlightenment as an attack on the pre-revolutionary monarchical regimes. Equality and judicial systems were insisted to take over the system of privileges that constituted the old regime, and protect the citizens from abuse of kings and their administrations. The Declaration of Right of Man and of Citizen could be extended to also include both social and political democracy. Freedom is a prime ingredient in human life. Every human being will always fight to protect their freedom no matter the situation. Everybody wants to be liberal, free to think and interact with the environment. The freedom and independence most nations in the world are enjoying today is because some people fought or worked for it (especially during the civilization period).
