The designers are in more pressure to decrease the production process cost and efficiency increment. 6) Process decisions directly affect the process itself, and indirectly the products and services that it provides. 7) Operations managers must consider five common process decisions namely process choice, vertical integration, resource flexibility, customer involvement and capital intensity. 8) Process design: macro is composed of two aspects: the choice of work station and the choice of work low. Work station selection involves the choice of machines to be included in the process, whereas work flow analysis concerns the flow of work between these stations. 9) A process (or transformation) strategy is an organization’s approach to transforming resources into goods and services. The objective of a process strategy is to build a production process that meets customer requirements and product specification within cost and other managerial constraints. 10) There are three principles important in understanding process strategy. They are the key to successful process decisions is to make choices that fit the situation, Individual processes are the building blocks that eventually create the firm’s whole supply chain, and Management must pay close attention to all interfaces between processes in the supply chain, whether they are performed internally or externally. 11) Four types of process strategies are process focus, repetitive focus, product focus, and mass customization.
