Social acceptance in waste management The social aspect is essential in sustainability assessment of waste treatment technique, as well as making decision on their application and planning. In recent years, it is becoming clear that a waste treatment technique, which does not involve social aspects is ruined to failure. ( Milutinović, B., 2016). It is important to conduct a study including the community to find out the best method for disposal of waste in the particular area. Conducting awareness sessions is an essential part, so that the community would know and accept it. According to the National Waste Management Policy of Maldives (2015), individual person should be responsible for the PSYCHOSOCIAL STUDIES/ BN (Block)

As Maldives is divided in to atolls and islands, the island councils are responsible for planning methods of waste disposal along with the community, discuss with the authorities and finalize.
