post- traumatic syndrome in an individual, such as abuse, accidents, military violence, etc. Symptoms include sleep disorders, jumpiness, and depression, among others (“PTSD: A Growing…”, 2009). I trust that this information because it comes from the National Institute of Health. NIH is a government agency that is made of “27 institutions” (NIH, n.d). When I researched the site, I was satisfied as to its credibility. The authors are specialists in their own area and NIH is dedicated to research about health issues. An article I found to be not credible is from an organization called Priory. The article list symptoms related to PTSD, including but not limited to Depression, substance use, difficulty concentrating, and mood swings (“Post Traumatic stress…”, 2013). This article does not give information concerning any research or literature about the syndrome. There is no information about authors. Priority is a health agency providing information that can result in their gaining patients for their own interests and goals (“About the Priority Group”, 2013). There is no a reference to write an academic paper or to learn about the latest advance on treatments for post-traumatic syndrome. In conclusion, if a person is looking for information to write an academic paper or to learn about the latest research/clinical information on any type of condition, an individual should check that the source or reference is credible. Always check the background of any organization before accepting the reading presented on a web page, article, or any literature as credible. Reference NIH (n.d.) NIH Organization.
