Two CASE tools for Project Planning There are many CASE (Computer Aided Software Engineering) tools available to help project developers during the project planning phase. The first of which is Microsoft Project. This program is designed to assist a project manager in developing a plan, assigning resources to tasks, tracking progress, managing the budget, and analyzing workloads. Another CASE tool to
25 Final Project Team 3 be utilized during project planning is SmartDraw. This program allows users to create diagrams to assist in the project planning phase of the SDLC. Two CASE tools for Analysis “Visible Systems Corp.'s Visible Analyst Workbench (VAW) is an integrated CASE toolkit that provides graphical analysis, design, and data modeling capabilities in one easy-to-use package. Visible Analyst Workbench 6.1 software provides complete support for developing software quickly and efficiently by reusing processes and data. The user can define design components with diagrams indicating required data and its accessibility. Business functions, data relationship and necessary objects are also easily defined” (Curtis). Another example of a CASE tool that can be implemented during project analysis is Microsoft Visio professional. Visio professional allows user to create flowcharts, diagrams, org charts, floor plans, engineering designs, and more. Two CASE tools to Aid the Design and Implementation Process One tool that can be utilized for this project is Microsoft Visio for creating a ERD (Entity Relationship Diagram), also known as an entity relationship model, is a graphical representation of an information system that depicts the relationships among people, objects, places, concepts or events within that system (Rouse). A second tool that would be useful during the implementation process would be Microsoft Visual Studio, which is a program for writing code in C# programming language. Visual studio can be used by a properly trained programmer to create the customer tracking system/website very quickly and at minimal cost for Pizza Palace.
