There is a wall to the north The Gobi Desert north central Tough terrain and forest to the north west Taklamakan basin – more desert Himalayan mountain range in excess of 29,000 ft Tibetan plateau Southern China still guarded by mountains though not as tall These are covered with rainforest and jungle The east is protected by the Pacific Ocean o they can easily keep stuff they don’t want out if we need it we will make it – still their trade policy very conservative culturally o kind of like team west but also tradition in China o if it has worked for 2000 years it will keep working and we will conserve it and purge out foreign elements China is China o they absorb outsiders and their stuff and wind up making them more Chinese like Buddhism They embrace technology o Make it themselves o Then export them cheaper o Everyone has a trade deficit with china Forever they have been a world power and epicenter of tech and innovation spreading to the rest of the world They are more powerful in todays world than ever before Their influence is spreading China is rising again even though we haven’t though so for the last hundred years
