BODY LANGUAGE RESEARCH PAPER . I CARLSON.docx

Everyone reads people differently and so body

This preview shows page 4 - 5 out of 7 pages.

Everyone reads people differently and so body language comes down to how you read specific people. For example, if I walked into an auditorium with 1000 people in the room; how many opinions would form about me before I even got to the microphone? How many of the opinions would be exactly the same? If everyone were to write 1 paragraph about me walking up to the microphone, there would be so many different statements said about me all because people read others differently. Someone that says they thought I just looked so mad today; another person could say that I was the most joyous today that I’ve looked in a while. Over the years, our bodies have adapted to reading people in certain ways; we do this on an unconscious and conscious level whether it’s right or wrong. I mentioned the eyes before and wanted to touch base back onto the eyes and talk about how critical eye body language is. When you are in an interview, on a date, talking seriously with your children, your next-door neighbor or a co-worker; eye contact is always important!

Carlson 4 The focus, expressions you give, and the movement display great valuation and understanding to the conversation at hand. Without words, eye contact can be powerful in many ways. Just think of when a guy has a crush on a girl and if she looks at him for more than 5 seconds, this can seriously spark a wildfire if she’d want to get together.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
