matters, the first coffeehouse in Western Europe was started at Oxford University. Tea was invented in China as far back as 6th century BCE, tea is dried leaves from the bush Camellia Sinensis infused into hot water. Tea was believed to have healing powers, it was used as currency, and there were even tea drinking ceremonies. Lastly in the late 1800s John Pemberton who was a pharmacist in Atlanta invented the first version of Coca-Cola. Throughout the years coke has spread all over the world and has become one of the most popular drinks on the earth, Standage says that it represents American entrepreneurship and imperialism. I believe that the book is filled with interesting information but it is not written in a compelling way. It’s a nonfiction book that takes readers on an extraordinary trip throughout history but I think that It could be written to grab your attention more, rather than just stating facts. The sources that Standage uses in the book seem to come from anthropologists, historians, and primary sources, such as books written at the time, to back his claims up. They are all credible, believable sources that support his claims. The author’s point of view is neutral because he is only stating facts in his writing, there are no opinions.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
