Fit on screen resizes the view to fit the entire canvas on the screen. Double clicking the hand tool also fits the image on the screen. To hide the white outline ctrl+H Marquee : a dotted rectangle. Marquee zoom : dragging the zoom tool pointer over a specific area in the image to magnify that specific area/ dragging the zoom tool on the image. If scrubby zoom checkbox is checked then you won’t be able to create a marquee zoom.

How to find the number of pixels from image size and resolution: no. of pixels= (resolution x length) x (resolution x width) Resampling : changing the total pixel count of an image. o If not checked- total no. of pixels remains constant, no pixels added or discarded no matter what the size or resolution, pixels are simply redistributed. Reduction percentage of a pixel when resampling: (Final no. of pixels/ initial no. of pixels) x 100 = percentage. If percentage <1 then image is reduced by -% If percentage >1 then image is enlarged by -% Image size: the physical dimensions of the photoshop image, width & height. o Does NOT depend on resolution. File size: the amount of storage (memory) the file takes up in the computer. o Affected by both image size and resolution. Changing the dimensions of an image affects the resolution and quality of an image. Interpolation : a process in which photoshop creates new pixels based on information from existing pixels when enlarging an image. o For print quality reproduction, an image composed of too much interpolated data is unacceptable.

Reducing an image’s size or resolution does not involve the creation of interpolated data acceptable in terms of image quality. Hi-res: High resolution. o Magazine or poster o Industry standard: 300ppi The standard resolution for the web and on-screen graphics is 72 ppi.
