I chose these materials because they were books that were on the same reading level as my students. I had enough copies for each student, which allowed them to read along with me as I read the first text. With each student having a copy of each book, discussions flowed more easily. The students were able to place the books side by side during the discussions so that they could talk about the connection between the different texts. I chose to utilize a matching activity to determine if the students were able to correctly identify the American symbols. 4.
