For example, It effectively states that “with a life span lengthened to nearly 75 years it us no longer either necessary or possible for women to devote the greater part of their lives to child rearing.” Perhaps one of the strongest ideas throughout the statement is that “the power of American law and protection guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution to the civil rights of all individuals must be affectively applied and enforced to isolate and remove patterns of sex discrimination.” In addition to the feminist ideas underlined in the National Organization of Women’s 1966 Statement of Purpose , the Redstockings Manifesto also stresses the same feminist beliefs in favor towards women’s rights. Just as the Statement of Purpose aims to raise awareness in America over the discrimination faced by women, the Redstocking Manifesto’s purpose “is to develop female class consciousness through sharing experience and publicly exposing the sexist foundation of all our institutions.” Both
