better M(B)A is concerned with. It is not concerned with a rigid format or a series of if-then statements. Instead the guiding principal is a desire to seek out a holistic approach to understanding how the system of activities of daily life interplay with societies needs and potential. The manifesto brings up theories as to how design and management can cohabitate in a program and shape the future, whatever that future may be. Kimbell s manifesto is overly antagonistic to me in that it seeks to dispel other attempts at merging the two disciplines and creates an ethereal concept for a program that lacks any quantifiable definition. I appreciate aesthetics as a key component in design as well as management and creating genuine emotional connection not only between consumer and output but also between human and company. I also appreciate that design management is approached from a system level given much greater importance that creating a pretty shell. The author respects tension and the dialogue that tension can create; however, in my mind this imaginary program is so contradictory that the manifesto has little relevance to me as a whole because it seems to be written in such a way that it will never exist, and has

no utility in creating tangible outcomes for scholars looking to grow in the design management field. Part II Introduction Pg 108 Creativity and the ability to navigate uncertainty and complexity have emerged as key abilities for successful managers" Management programs have begun incorporating design education into their programs because of the demand for these skills. Pg 108 This is accompanied by other developments - for example by a different outlook online and work in general. Two new key terms are wellbeing and work- life balance. I ve never heard of adductive reasoning before. Pg 115 I definitely think that I fall squarely into the left-brain, open-minded approach. The more higher-level discussions I am a part of the more I realize the cost of implementing different features. It requires strategy to envision potential solutions, evaluate their costs, and choose to implement the ones that bring the most value (while limiting cost).
