should be our main focus/ highest delight in everything we do because we will displease Him if we do not experience Him as our highest delight. (Shaw 1997, 102) The idea behind the command in Psalm 37:4 and others like it is that, when we truly rejoice or “delight” in the eternal things of God, our desires will begin to line up with His and wewill never go unfulfilled. If we are delighting ourselves in God, He will give us our heart desires.What then are the desires of our heart? If we are relying upon God and deriving our primary pleasure in Him, then He is the desire of our heart because our mind is stayed on Him. The promise here is that God will give us Himself if we delight in Him and if we have Him we have everything we need because He supplies all our needs according to His riches in glory.
