desire in terms of conservation and local efforts from all of its citizens, it is successful enough to start helping the global community. Costa Rica has had enough experience in starting the process of ecotourism and the path to sustainability that it is now time for it to start encouraging other countries to do the same. It needs to encourage developing countries do follow their footsteps and fix the mistakes Costa Rica has made in the process. There is much to be fixed as the journey thus far has been very demanding and, sometimes, dangerous. Costa Rica also needs to encourage developed countries to change their ways and rebuild their countries. For many, this might appear as a way of backtracking and under-developing a nation. People need to change their mindset of development. People need to have a greater appreciation for full and lively forests than for skyscrapers, rivers and streams over giant shopping complexes, small and self- sufficient communities instead of overpopulated cities. Perhaps Costa Rica is more developed than most. The global community has had an enormous effect on Costa Rica’s ecotourism industry within all the support it has given. It is now time for Costa Rica to show off its success and share

its practices and experiences with the world to encourage every country to do the same. Ecotourism is not the end, it is a means to an end and a good start towards sustainable living. We will not have this planet for our descendents for forever with the rate that we are using its resources. We cannot continue to use. We must begin to conserve.
