11. The cost of manufacturing an article is divided into materials labour, government tax and other charges.
In a certain year these costs were as follows.
Materials shs.47.50
Labour shs.60.00
Government tax shs.18.00
Other charges shs.20.00
In the following year the cost of materials doubled, the cost of labour increased by 50%, government
tax decreased by 33½ and other charges increased by 15%.
a) Calculate the percentage increase in the cost of manufacturing the article (8marks)
b) The manufacturer now, sells the articles to a wholesaler at a profit of 40%. Determine how much
the wholesaler pays for two hundred such items. (2marks)
12. A rectangular block of wood measuring 10cm by 8cm by 3cm has a mass of 192g. Find:
a) The density of the wood per cm
