Crowell Chem 6A - Syllabus and Course Details 3 Course Requirements, continued l Discussion Sections Ø Taught by Chemistry graduate students pursuing their Ph.D. and M.S. degree. Ø Attend the section you are enrolled in. Ø Sections will begin meeting Friday Sept. 28 th . l Individual Help with TA’s (held in 4020 A/B York Hall) Ø Chem 6A Help Room is available Monday - Friday, 4-8 PM. Ø The Helproom likely begins Monday Oct. 8th (start of Week 2) & will run through the last day of classes (Dec. 7th). l Assistance by Prof. Crowell Ø Practice Exams (& Equation Sheets) will be provided by Prof. Crowell before each exam to help you prepare for the exams ; Ø A Review Session will be given by Prof. Crowell prior to each exam ; Ø Prof. Crowell will hold office hours 4 times each week. OTHER HELP l Supplemental Instruction : The Chemistry & Biochemistry Department has partnered with the UCSD Teaching and Learning Commons to launch Supplemental Instruction (SI) with our general chemistry courses, beginning with all Chem 6A courses this Fall, Chem 6B in the Winter, and Chem 6C in the Spring. This is an opportunity in addition to Lecture and Section to learn the course material through an active learning process. This program is lead by successful undergraduate students termed SI Leaders that have completed Chem 6. They will attend the lectures and lead three SI sessions every week tailored for our particular Chem 6A class. Ben Chan will lead the following sessions: Mondays 5-5:50 pm @ Center 316 Wednesdays 10-10:50 am @ Center 316 Saturdays 3-3:50 pm @ Teaching + Learning Commons 1504 l OASIS (Office of Academic Support & Instructional Services, 3 rd Floor Center Hall) offers tutoring programs in math and science, including Chem 6. OASIS offers Chem 6A group study session workshops, and walk-in tutoring in math.
