She has given up dieting and also going to the gym because of her hopeless feelings. When she is feeling down, she relies on fast foods and sweets to make herself feel better. Jane Doe has gained about 40 lbs. after her divorce 10 years ago. She now weighs 175 lbs. Due to her mood swings, she has also been complaining about headaches and sore muscles. Jane Doe’s psychiatrist referred her to the PCP for evaluation. After the visit her blood pressure was high and blood work also showed high cholesterol and high blood sugar. One health outcome improvement that can help Jane does is to participate in an exercise program that are specifically designed for patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder. It is important for her family to encourage her so that she is able to enjoy her exercise. This can also help her take her mind off of things.
