Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia – Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) — also called prostate gland enlargement — is a common condition as men get older (Mayo Clinic, 2019). An enlarged prostate gland can cause uncomfortable urinary symptoms, such as blocking the flow of urine out of the bladder (Mayo Clinic, 2019). It can also cause bladder, urinary (MedlinePlus, 2019). The more damage there is to the heart, the greater the amount of troponin T and I there will be in the blood (MedlinePlus, 2019).

There are several effective treatments for prostate gland enlargement, including medications, minimally invasive therapies and surgery (Mayo Clinic, 2019). To choose the best option, you and your doctor will consider your symptoms, the size of your prostate, other health conditions you might have and your preferences (Mayo Clinic, 2019). Atrial Fibrillation – Atrial fibrillation is an irregular and often rapid heart rate that can increase your risk of stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications (Mayo Clinic, 2019). During atrial fibrillation, the heart's two upper chambers (the atria) beat chaotically and irregularly — out of coordination with the two lower chambers (the ventricles) of the heart (Mayo Clinic, 2019). Atrial fibrillation symptoms often include heart palpitations, shortness of breath and weakness (Mayo Clinic, 2019). Episodes of atrial fibrillation can come and go, or you may develop atrial fibrillation that doesn't go away and may require treatment (Mayo Clinic, 2019). Although atrial fibrillation itself usually isn't life-threatening, it is a serious medical condition that sometimes requires emergency treatment (Mayo Clinic, 2019). It may lead to complications (Mayo Clinic, 2019). Atrial fibrillation can lead to blood clots forming in the heart that may circulate to other organs and lead to blocked blood flow (ischemia) (Mayo Clinic, 2019). Treatments for atrial fibrillation may include medications and other interventions to try to alter the heart's electrical system (Mayo Clinic, 2019). It is a time for realization of a wholeness perspective, with an inner search for meaning and order in the life cycle (Taylor, 2015). Older adults search for emotional integration and acceptance of the past and present, as well as acceptance of physiologic decline without fear of death (Taylor, 2015).
