attend their regularly scheduled meeting to provide an overview of my policy, presenting evidenced-based research on how this policy change would be beneficial to the community of mental health. The goal would be to recruit those members who are familiar with policy implementation and who would be willing to come on board. POLICY, POLITICS AND GLOBAL HEALTH 10 Goal Alignment The organization goals listed on their website align with the problem identified. The purpose of the organization is to advocate at the county, state and national levels for non- discriminatory access to quality healthcare, housing, education and employment for people with mental illness. The policy of implementing tele-behavioral services in the emergency rooms statewide addresses the goal of access to quality health care for persons with mental illness. Action Steps The first step would be to gather information on the communities within the state of Illinois to determine the greatest underserved area due to the lack of access to mental health services. After identifying the community, the committee will outreach the leaders in that community to gain perspective on how the lack of access to mental health has affected the area. The committee will also outreach the closest hospital in the area to gain insight regarding the number of patients treated in the emergency room for mental illness. The course of actions would also include meetings with key stakeholders such as hospital executives, state representatives, and community leaders. Social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter will be used to garner support for the proposal. The team will attend town hall meeting and public forums to present information on telemedicine and its benefits. Surveys will be used to gauge the understanding of telemedicine throughout the community. Information gathered from the surveys will allow the committee to address concerns at the public forums and amend or rewrite the proposal so that it will benefit all parties involved. Role and Responsibilities The team would consist of an administrative assistant, community liaison, nurse researcher, and the representative from NAMI. The administrative assistant roles and

The nurse researcher would be responsible for providing evidenced- based research related to policy, typing up the agenda for the meeting and serving as vice-chair of the committee. The NAMI representative responsibilities include serving as chairperson of the
