Having decisions made by only two staff members

This preview shows page 2 - 5 out of 9 pages.

Having decisions made by only two staff members eliminates all of the usual team decision time conflicts. Since the two decision makers both have equal stake in the company, there is no production blocking or evaluation apprehension [McS12]. The success that the bothers have had in this area hasallowed them to be fully supported by the staff within the company. Each member gets fully behind the decision the brothers have made simply because they have shown so much success since they started. As long as the
Wilson Brothers Company remains a private corporation, they can continue with this path as long as they wish.4.The perceived fairness in the organization is definitely a weakness within Wilson Brothers. This relates to job design mentioned earlier. There is no realjob design or criteria within Wilson Brothers for starting salaries or bonuses. Because of this, salaries vary all over the place and are basically set on the employees’ willingness to negotiate. This is one of those underlying issues that can have major affects on employees’ attitude towards work. If employees feel that they are being under rewarded, it can cause negative emotions directed right towards their work. Equity theory states “employees develop perceptions of fairness by comparing their own outcome/input ratio to the outcome/input ratio of some other person” [McS12]. In order to straighten this out, we would need to create policies in regards to employment equity and pay equity. It would be based on a few different criteria’s such as sonority, previous experience and specific job requirements.Bonuses would be an option for all employees depending on how they and the company performed each year. Through job evaluation we can consider whether or not an employee has deserved a bonus based on the previous years work or not.5.Organizational Culture is something that the Wilson Brothers take very seriously and is one of the main reasons they’ve been so successful in Canada and abroad. This company was ‘born and raised’ in Canada and holds strong Canadian roots. These roots have made Wilson Brothers a desired workplace for new employees, managers and plant personnel. Within the culture of
Wilson Brother Limited, is employees who can see the success that ‘the little guy” can have. Not only are they strong within their Canadian Backgrounds, but also they’ve been known to have tremendous success in the US and Europe due to their ‘Cultural Sensitivities’. In order to have success in a new market, they hire a local CEO so that the local culture can be integrated into Wilson Brothers Limited. No two cultures are exactly the same; in order to have success in a new market we must understand the social and business aspects in the new location[Tra15]. This is something that can often be overlooked but is a major contribution to the global success of companies.
