The complications that occur due to lack of physical exercise and excessive smoking usually generate symptoms that are used in the diagnosis of the DVT and CVI. The symptoms that due to venous stasis and that are used in the diagnosis of DVT include a soft gelatinous feel, redness of the extremities, and Holman’s sign. Other strategies that can be used to diagnose DVT include ultrasound, the use of d-dimer, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) (Huether & McCance, 2017). The symptoms that occur due to venous obstruction and that are used in the diagnosis of CVI include severe pain when walking, edema of lower extremities, hyperpigmentation of the skin around the feet and ankles, and itching on the legs. Other strategies that can be used to diagnose CVI include Duplex Ultrasonography and the use of a Venogram (Huether & McCance, 2017; Hammer & McPhee, 2014). Both

The most commonly used treatment options for the two disorders include physical exercise, avoiding cigarette smoking, the use of compression stockings, and drugs such as Asprin, Heparin, and Warfarin (Bleker et al., 2016; Sogaard, Schmidt, Pedersen, 2016; Hoppenstead & Fareed, 2014 ).
