A health issue that is affecting the international health community is not a communicable disease
like the medical community has seen in the past. Health issues like heart disease, stroke and
injury are on the rise where communicable diseases have decreased. “Many developing countries
must now deal with a “dual burden” of disease: they must continue to prevent and control
infectious diseases, while also addressing the health threats from noncommunicable diseases and
environmental health risks” (Healthy People 20/20, 2019) By being invested in developing
countries health promotion this benefits the United States by improving our health. “The United
States cooperates with other countries to address priority public health issues and prepare for and
respond to emerging and pandemic diseases” (Healthy People 20/20, 2019) By being there for
other countries the United States is protecting the people of the states.
Any outbreak of an
infectious disease through either contamination or infectious disease could affect the people of
the United States. This can also affect trade routes and travel.
