the time-consuming out-of-office task to others. (1) The daily contact between the charity staff and the elderly people could allow a relationship to be built up that could result in better information flow to the local authority that would allow it to identify potential problems with care or independence at an early stage; although this would be dependent on strong communication between the charity and the local authority. (1) The local authority can use this information to feed into its plans and budgets. (1) Another example might be collaboration to provide health care for patients - for example, a patient’s care can be planned and delivered by a multi-disciplinary team from within the health authority. (1) Joint commissioning and service planning between health authorities, local authorities and national authorities, as well as with private and voluntary sectors is commonplace. A good example is the way in which organisations attempt to protect children from abuse – social services departments, police, medical practitioners, schools, voluntary organisations and community health workers work together to develop close working relationships and protect vulnerable children. The benefits of this collaborative approach are that there is less chance of a case falling through the gap between agencies, less chance of concerned citizens being unable to notify someone of their concerns, as so many different agencies are involved and information will be shared between them. (1) The health service has made huge efforts to offer more integrated care to patients. Patients can expect to be given a complete care package, with effective communication between doctors, nurses, district nurses, General Practitioners, Physiotherapists, adult care services in the local authority and any other relevant bodies.(1) The benefits of this to the patient are that they will receive a comprehensive care package and can be confident that all aspects of their care are being addressed and that all involved parties are communicating well with each other. (1) The benefit to the agencies involved is that they deliver a better service to patients and this could be reflected in performance measures and feedback from patients, improving their performance against relevant standards and improving their image. (1) The agencies can also use the comprehensive information they receive about patients to help plan future services and allocate budgets, leading to more effective use of scarce resources across all the organisations involved. (1) An example of collaboration between the public and private sectors is Hertfordshire County Council’s initiative, Telecare. Working with international services company Serco and a leading provider of telehealth services, Tunstall , Hertfordshire county council has installed telecare systems in thousands of homes of vulnerable/elderly people. Telecare is a system of sensors installed throughout a person's home that alert a carer, relative, neighbour or charity if

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
