C.A study to determine whether it is true that the use of fast-paced music played over a store’s public address system will speed the shopping rate of customers without an adverse effect on the amount spent per customer. This study is more complex, and the research does not have control over many of the variable. The recommended type of experimental design would be a field experiment. The variables will be the music played, the shopping rate of a customer and the amount spent per customer. This study also needs to take into account the external factors that will influence the experiment greatly. The factors include budgets, shopping group (alone, with friends, with children, with family) and the shopping days and/or hours (weekdays or weekends, daytime or nighttime). These external factors are unknown to the research and uncontrollable.
