optic network enabling up to 10G connections.Any system that allows communication betweenmultiple LAN is called a WAN (Wide Area Network), of which the biggest existing one is theWorld Wide Web, also known as the Internet.(Chasing, n.d.)Redundant connectionsprovide by separate internet service providers (ISPs) like Comcast and Verizon at each site willprovide network redundancy and stability.Each site will be connected to the WAN through a Cisco Meraki MX 600 SecurityAppliance and two Cisco 2921 service routers serving as edge routers.These layers 3 and 4network devices provide the first line of defense against cyber-attacks by providing NetworkAddress Translation (NAT) for the network. All incoming and outgoing network traffic passesthrough the (NAT) device.The internal traffic is partitioned from external internet trafficallowing for use of private VLAN assigned IP addresses to be used inside the LAN while publicaddresses are used for outward facing traffic broadcast to the World Wide Web.Two Cisco Meraki MX 600 will be installed in the data center at the main office. EachISP feed will come through separate MX 600’s to provide secure and truly redundant network toensure stability, security, and quality of service. The MX600 will supply enterprise wide layer 7application traffic shaping, prioritization, and web caching. Traffic shaping provides Quality ofService (QoS) by regulating network data by sending only packets that are necessary to end userrequest.The reduced network traffic provides better performance over the network, especially atremote locations.The branch offices will connect to the rest of the network using Cisco 2921service routers as their edge routers.The MX 600 at the main office will be configured to takeadvantage of Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) routing protocol combined with (LSA) link-staterouting which allows it to communicate with all the routers in the network to establish the mostefficient path for transferring data traffic.
