Observation: Based on the experiment and on the data we have gathered, it can be seen that oscillation only occurs when the gain is set greater than or equal to 29. Also, we can see that there is 360 degrees phase shift on the output signal with respect to the input signal. We can also observe that each RC section has a 60 degree phase shift in which the total phase shift of the whole RC network is 180degrees. Changing the values of the RC network also changes the frequency generated. Interpretation: The RC phase shift oscillator uses the inverting input of the op-amp to increase a total of 360 degrees phase shift. We realize that the addition of the inverting amplifier is – Rf/Ri. The variable resistor is viewed as the adjustment for the oscillator. The increase should be equal or greater than 29 to give a steady oscillation.
